Development of Data Processing Algorithms for Radar-based Long-Term Health Monitoring
Radar technologies have been recently investigated as an emerging measurement technique in healthcare, able to operate without any user involvement, which is a strong asset in Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) applications due to the targeted population (e.g., subjects in cognitive decline) and it is also in line with the development of the Internet of the Things.
Although radar techniques are fundamental for high sensitivity contactless target detection, data processing techniques represent a key factor in developing healthcare applications and to solve several challenges that the real situations impose. This project focuses on the investigation and development or improvement of innovative data processing algorithms aiming at multi-people localization/tracking and vital signs monitoring (heartrate and respiration), meeting also conflicting boundary conditions (body random movements, vibrations, undesired reflections, accuracy, positioning, speed detection, …).
The advanced algorithms will be tested using IMEC-Holst Centre radar prototypes.
