Vacature details

Full-time

Innovative surgical start-up is looking for an eager electrical R&D engineer to support growing ambitions

Challenge

At Sirius we improve care for cancer patients through our effective, affordable localization system, enabling the precise and efficient surgical removal of tumors. Our ambition is to offer a solution that provides value across the patient-care pathway. Our aim is that our system becomes accessible to every breast cancer center looking for a better alternative.

We have recently closed the initial development and received CE mark and working towards FDA clearance for this system.

To support Sirius in its ambition to become a strong development & commercialization company in the surgical medtech space, we are looking for an eager junior electrical or biomedical engineer that will support the development team in the further refining the product portfolio (hardware and software) as well as working on new R&D projects.

You will join a small but experienced multi-disciplinary team of medical device experts (technology, clinical, quality, business, operational) in which you quickly familiarize yourself with our current products and planned future product pipeline. You take ownership of research projects which you carefully plan, execute and report to the team. You like working independently, have a curious mind and a strong background in combining the medical, electrical and software worlds.

Responsibilities and Activities

  • Research: You plan research carefully. You write protocols and think about the best methods to execute the plan. You meticulously perform and record testing and you report results in clear documents and presentations. You align with the team and prioritize steps. You look for the story behind results and are curious to find the why. You think of different angles to approach a problem and are not afraid to voice your opinion.
  • Development: You know how to write verifiable (testable) requirements. You work together with our System Architect to develop clear requirements and specifications.
  • Electronics: You have knowledge of analog and digital electronics. You know the potential and limitations of electronic assemblies and (combinations of) analog and digital hardware. You are able to prototype basic electronic circuits and you can test and analyze performance of both solid-state technology and analog technology.
  • Design: You know your way around CAD and can design prototypes for testing. You are able to assist in the design of a final product.
  • Coding: You have knowledge of python and C(++). You are able to review available code to assess its functionality and critically analyze performance. You look for ways to improve what is available and you make cross-links between the code base and the hardware specs to look for ways to improve functionality. Preferably, you have some experience with coding GUIs that we can use for (internal) testing

Qualifications and Skills

  • You have an academic background in (electrical) engineering. Preferably, you have shown interest in the medical technology space in your choice of internships.
  • You are not a hardware or software person; you like to do both and integrate them as best as possible.
  • You have an independent work ethic. You know how to keep yourself busy.
  • You communicate effectively and include key stakeholders in the team when necessary.
  • You are accurate and don’t like open ends; you’re a finisher.
  • You know how to plan a project and formulate clear deadlines and endpoints.
  • You are a creative, high-energy, self-motivated, pro-active individual able to work in a diverse team within a dynamic startup company.
  • You are fluent (speaking and writing) in English and preferably Dutch.

Offer

We offer a great team to work with, and on the High Tech Campus we enjoy an environment that enable us creating products that matter in the lives of people. You will have the freedom to steer your own work and the responsibility to make it happen.

We will pay a competitive salary.

Employment agencies are requested not to respond to this invitation.
